Configuration Guide for Amazon VAT Calculation Service Lite

SimpleVAT supports generating and uploading invoices to Amazon for all orders. Invoices can be generated by SimpleVAT in accordance with your numbering scheme and other preferences, and subsequently uploaded to Amazon where your customers can access them via their Amazon account. This feature is available for both B2C and B2B orders and complies fully with Amazon’s requirements for the Invoice Defect Rate (IDR).

First, opt into the Amazon VAT Calculation Service (VCS) by logging in to your Amazon account on Seller Central. If you haven’t already done so, please input your VAT numbers into Seller Central by going to Tax Settings. When activating the Amazon VAT Calculation Service, the earliest possible date of activation will be in 7 days’ time. You will be asked whether you would like Amazon to generate and upload invoices, or do so yourself. Please specify the latter by choosing the option ‘I will upload my own VAT invoices’. If this option is not available and you only see the option ‘I want Amazon to automatically generate VAT invoices’, then please contact Amazon Support by opening a case and ask them to enable VCS Lite for you.

Follow these steps

  1. Open a case with Amazon Seller Support and ask that they enable VCS Lite for you. They will ask which provider you will be using to have your invoices uploaded. Inform them that you will be using SimpleVAT.
  2. Lead time for having VCS Lite is usually 1-2 business days. Once you have confirmation from Amazon Seller Support that VCS Lite has been enabled, continue with the steps below.
  3. Enrol into the Amazon VAT Calculation Service via Seller Central by navigating to Settings -> Tax Settings -> VAT calculation settings.
  4. Activate the VAT Calculation Service. The earliest possible date of activation will be 7 days in the future.
  5. Choose the option 'I will upload my own VAT invoices', and click the Save button.
  6. Go to Marketplaces in your SimpleVAT account, find the Amazon marketplace you wish to have invoices uploaded to and enable 'Upload invoices'. Upon clicking Save, SimpleVAT will start uploading an invoice for every Amazon order.
